Discovery Flight
Your First Time at the Controls
A Discovery Flight is your introduction to real flight training. You’ll fly with a certified flight instructor, take the controls, and experience what learning to fly is actually like—no commitment, no pressure.
This is not a sightseeing ride. It’s a hands-on first lesson.
What You’ll Do
During your Discovery Flight, you will:
-
Meet your instructor and review the plan for the flight
-
Learn basic aircraft controls and cockpit layout
-
Take the controls and fly the airplane under instructor supervision
-
Experience climbs, turns, and straight-and-level flight
-
Ask questions about training, costs, and timelines
You log real flight time, just like any other lesson.

Who It’s For
A Discovery Flight is ideal if you are:
-
Curious about flying but unsure if it’s for you
-
Considering a Private Pilot Certificate
-
Exploring aviation as a career
-
Looking for a meaningful gift experience
-
Returning to aviation after time away
No experience is required. If you can drive a car, you can fly an airplane.
What You Don’t Need to Worry About
-
No experience required – we start from zero
-
No medical required – not for a discovery flight
-
No long-term commitment – this is a standalone experience
-
You won’t be “tested” – this is about learning and enjoyment
Your instructor is responsible for safety and will be with you the entire time.
What Happens After the Flight
After landing, your instructor will walk through:
-
What training looks like if you decide to continue
-
Estimated time and cost to reach your goals
-
Scheduling options that fit your life
-
Next steps—only if you want them
Many students schedule their first lesson the same day. Others take time to think it over. Both are completely fine.
Why Start With a Discovery Flight
Flight training is a serious investment of time and money. A Discovery Flight lets you:
-
Confirm that flying is something you genuinely enjoy
-
Meet the instructors and see how training actually works
-
Make an informed decision before committing
It’s the right first step.
